Congress member of parliament (MP) Jyotiraditya Scindia has written a letter to MP chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, drawing the latter's attention towards the plight of farmers in the wake of the recent rains and hailstorm that caused extensive damage to crops all over MP.

Scindia has asked Chouhan to provide relief to farmers who have been badly hit by the recent hailstorm in the state. In the letter, Scindia has said that nearly 70% wheat crop and almost 100% pulses have been affected due to the hailstorm and rain. So, the MP government should provide some financial assistance to farmers even before the survey to assess damage to crops is conducted. This can be adjusted after the crop survey.

He has also said that the survey should be completed within 15 days. Scindia has said that the crop survey report should have signatures of sarpanch, panch and at least ten farmers of the village, so that it is transparent and accurate. Also, the report's copy should be given to the village panchayat and placed on the district or state website, so that the farmers can check it and express their agreement or disagreement.
