"The court has given us permission to conduct tests on Safdar Nagori, Kamruddin Nagori and Amil Pervez," Inspector General (Indore) Anil Kumar told IANS over telephone.

The all-clear signal was given by the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Dhar district. Seven SIMI activists, including Safdar Nagori, were arrested March 27 in Indore.

Police and investigating agencies have since then been interrogating these SIMI leaders, but found it difficult to elicit information from them. "We thus decided to seek permission for narco test and submitted an application in the court of the chief judicial magistrate," Kumar said.

Nagori and his associates were arrested with a cache of arms and ammunition in Indore. He has been accused of "publishing and distributing pamphlets inciting Muslims to fight against the government".
