World Hindi Conference: MP governor not on official list of invitees, Cong asks why

With just four days left for the World Hindi Conference, the Congress on Sunday asked why Madhya Pradesh governor Ramnaresh Yadav's name was not included on the list of official invitees.

In an official statement, the party has said the list of 129-member government delegation includes the name of Union foreign minister Sushma Swaraj, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, governors of different states, members of parliaments (MPs), former MPs, bureaucrats and others like writers and educationists, but the name of the state governor was conspicuously missing.

The Congress, in its communiqué, said when names of governors of other states were included, why the governor of the state was ignored. Expressing surprise, the Opposition party claimed that even an employee at the Bharatiya Janata Party office in Bhopal was on the list of invitees, though there was no rasion d'etre behind his inclusion.

Governors of West Bengal, Kesrinath Tripathi and Goa, Mridula Sinha, MPs SS Ahluwalia, Shanta Kumar and Shatrughan Sinha, are among those who are part of the official delegation. Eminent Hindi litterateurs, writers and poets from all over the country are also on the list.

The World Hindi Conference is all set to be held in Bhopal from September 10-12. It is organised by the ministry of external affairs. This will be the 10th edition of the event, the first was held in Nagpur.
