A man set a minor girl afire when the latter foiled his rape attempt on her in Bhind district on Monday. The girl has been admitted to a hospital in Gwalior in a critical condition.
The incident comes close on the heels of the incident in which a man set a minor girl afire in Raisen district on Saturday when the latter raped by the accused’s son dared to report the incident to police. The girl died on Monday.
As per a report reaching here from Bhind, more than 500 kilometers north of Bhopal, the accused Bunty Bhadoria used to harass the 16-year-old victim, who lives in his neighbourhood in Krishna Colony falling under Bhind rural police.
He would make phone calls to her from his mobile phones and harass her with indecent talks. On coming to know about his nefarious activities mother of the girl scolded the man.
On Monday, the girl’s mother went to temple and there was nobody else in the house except the girl. Bhadoria barged into the house and made an attempt to rape the girl. When the girl resisted and foiled his attempt he poured out kerosene on her and set her afire before fleeing the spot.
On hearing the screams of the girl the neighours rushed to the house. The girl was rushed to Bhind district hospital from where she was referred to a hospital in Gwalior given her serious condition. She has suffered about 70% burns and is critical.

{{/usCountry}}In her statement recorded by an authority the girl accused Bunty Bhadoria of setting her afire. An FIR has been lodged against the accused for sexually harassing the girl and making an attempt to kill her.
After the incident the accused, his parents and others in the family left the village to avoid arrest.
Additional superintendent of police Dharmvir Singh Yadav said a manhunt had been launched to arrest the accused.
