2012: Big Bollywood releases

If 2011 was the year of adult comedies, biopics and experimental films, 2012 has some action-masala flicks lined up for release. The upcoming year would also be high on sequels. Here's a lowdown on 2012's big movies.

If 2011 was the year of adult comedies, biopics and experimental films, 2012 has some action-masala flicks lined up for release. The upcoming year would also be high on sequels. Here's a lowdown on 2012's big movies.



PLAYERS (Release Date: January 6)

Director duo Abbas-Mustan's 'multi-starrer thriller' formula works most of the times. Players starring Abhishek Bachchan, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Sonam Kapoor, Bipasha Basu and others will hit the theares on January 6, making it the first release of 2012.



What's hot: Bipasha Basu's bikini sequence and some steamy songs.



What's not: Repetition of the trite thriller formula.



KAHAANI (Release Date: January 20)

After the sucess of The Dirty Picture, Vidya Balan would be back to create silver screen magic with Sujoy Ghosh's Kahaani. The film will see the actor play the character of a pregnant woman in search of her missing husband.



Gossip: Reportedly, the film is partially inspired by the Hollywood blockbuster Kill Bill, which was directed by Quentin Tarantino.



Trivia: Produced by Sujoy Ghosh, Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and Pen India Private Limited, Kahaani has been extensively shot in Kolkata, which incidentally is Vidya’s favourite city.



AGNEEPATH (Release Date: January 26)

Produced by Karan Johar and directed by Karan Malhotra, the film is the modern version of Amitabh Bachchan's legendary hit by the same name. The film hits the theatres on Republic Day.



Plus point: The film looks like a complete Masala fare.



What's hot: Katrina Kaif's Chikni Chameli item number is already making waves.



What's not: It's a remake, so nothing new in the storyline.

EK MAIN AUR EKK TU (Release Date: February 10)

Directed by Shakun Batra, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu tells the story of a couple, played by Kareena Kapoor and Imran Khan, who accidentally get married after having a few drinks on Christmas eve. Will the marriage last?



What's hot: Fresh jodi of Kareena Kapoor and Imran Khan



What's not:
Do we trust new directors until they prove their worth?



BLOOD MONEY (Release Date: March 23)

Directed by Vishal Mahadkar, Blood Money stars Kunal Khemu and Amrita Puri.



Ek MainHOUSEFULL 2 (Release Date: April 5)

Sajid Khan is back with the sequel of his superhit film Housefull. Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, the comic caper pairs up Akshay Kumar with Asin Thottumkal. The film also stars Ritesh Deshmukh, Mithun Chakraborty, John Abraham, Jacqueline Fernandez, Zarine Khan, among others.



Plus point: The film has a brand advantage.
