Aamir Khan parts with Pappu title

In Bollywood, film titles frequently make news. And the latest to join the ever-growing list is Saurabh Shukla’s forthcoming film, Pappu Can’t Dance Saala (PCDS). The film borrows its title from a popular song in the Aamir Khan-produced 2008 hit Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (JTYJN).

The story goes like this: JTYJN director Abbas Tyrewala, who is close to Shukla, heard the script of film and instantly felt that the title PCDS went very well with it. And though, Shukla had already registered the title PCDS, Tyrewala convinced Aamir to give his consent to give away the title.

"Aamir was always keen to keep the title but Saurabh had acquired it soon after JTYJN released. Still, Saurabh wanted to take Aamir’s consent for the title because Aamir really wanted it. So, Tyrewala made the effort and persuaded Aamir to let Saurabh have PCDS as his film’s title. And finally, Aamir gave the green signal." says a unit member of PCDS.

Talking about movie titles, interestingly, the name of Aamir’s next — directed by Reema Kagti — is still creating suspense. While titles such as The Act Of Murder, Zakhmee and Dhuan have been doing the rounds; no official confirmation has come in yet either from the actor or the producer-director.

Shukla’s PCDS is a story about a small-town boy who comes to Mumbai and faces adjustment issues in the city. The film stars Vinay Pathak opposite Neha Dhupia along with Rajat Kapoor and will hit theatres on December 16.
