Al Pacino to inspire Akshay Kumar

Milan Luthria speaks about Akshay’s look in his next, equation with Ekta Kapoor and more.

Actor Akshay Kumar will draw inspiration from Hollywood actor, Al Pacino for his role, said to be inspired by organised crime leader, Dawood Ibrahim— in the sequel to the movie, Once upon a Time In Mumbaai.

Director Milan Luthria reveals that Akshay’s look tests for the film will begin soon. “Akshay’s character in the film speaks less and has dark shades. So one will see a lot of silent power. We are planning to do look tests soon and I think the look will be modeled on Al Pacino’s look in The Godfather. He will have that haunted look once he becomes a don.”

When asked if Akshay’s character is indeed inspired by Ibrahim, Luthria said, “In Once upon a Time In Mumbaai, people said Shoaib’s character was inspired by Ibrahim, but it was an imaginary character. This character too, is fictitious. My film is not a hard hitting gory film, it is a love-triangle. But any hype around the film benefits it.” About reports that actor Shahid Kapoor ditched the project, as his role wasn’t as meaty as Akshay’s, Luthria says, “We haven’t shared the script with anyone. We had meetings with actors but nobody was at a point where they could gauge the characters to that extent.”
