One of the first actors to have released a music album, way back in 1998, Govinda is now back with more tunes. The popular star will release two singles and their music videos soon. “All my songs are Govinda-style. I did sing earlier too, but films were a priority then. Now that it’s been quite a while since I came out with any song, I felt the time was right to release these tracks,”says Govinda.
The actor reveals that the tune of one of the songs, titled ‘Gori tere naina sapne main aaye’, struck him at an unlikely time. “I was jogging when I thought of the lyrics and the tune. So I went to Samir (Tandon, music director) and set the ball rolling. One thing led to another and we had a fantastic song ready,” says Govinda. While this song has a Navratri theme and features garba beats, the second one is a party number, titled ‘Pinto party da mood’.
“We haven’t named the album yet. Right now, we will release just two songs; more will follow soon,” says the actor, adding, “Whether I continue singing or not depends on the success of these songs.” The actor also reveals that he ensured his family heard the songs before he went ahead with their recordings.
Interestingly, the music video of one of the songs features TV actor Pooja Banerjee, who plays Parvati in Mahadev. “She was working out on the beach when I met her and we started talking. And by the time we left, we decided to do the music video together.” Ask Pooja about her appearance in the video and she says, “It was a dream come true for me to share screen space with Govindaji. I look up to him; he is a great entertainer and dancer, and also one of my favourite actors.”
