Amitabh Bachchan deserves Dadasaheb Phalke: Lata Mangeshkar

She was prompt in expressing her elation at Gulzar being honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. The legendary singer, however, says, "Amitji (Amitabh Bachchan) deserves it. Unko milna hi chahiye (He should get it)."

and his friends from the industry were prompt in expressing their elation.

One of these famous friends is legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, who says she is happy for him, but also feels that one of her other good friends should also get it.

She told us, "Amit

ji

(Amitabh Bachchan) deserves it.

Unko milna hi chahiye

(He should get it). It’s the right time for him to be given the Dadasaheb Phalke Award."

This is not the first time that the melody queen has felt that a prestigious award should be bestowed upon Bachchan. Back in 2011, she had stated that Bachchan should get the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award.

When told about this, Bachchan had taken a modest stand and told HT Café back then, "She is elder to me and I’m very small in front of her, so I shouldn’t comment on it. But I don’t think I am eligible for an honour like the Bharat Ratna, nor am I going to get it."

Bachchan was honoured with the Hridaynath Mangeshkar award last year.
