The actor, known for his roles in hit films like Roja (1992) and Bombay (1995), apparently looked “too young” for director Nikhil Advani’s next, D-Day.

The filmmakers of D-Day were on the lookout for a middle-aged actor to play a crucial role in the action thriller. That’s when they came across Swamy’s pictures on the Internet. “In the pictures, he looked fit for the part since he had gained weight and lost a lot of hair,” says an insider from the unit.

“So, we got in touch with him. But we were in for a major shock. He had since undergone a complete transformation for his look in Mani Ratnam’s upcoming Tamil film, Kadal. With his slim physique and wavy hair, he looks straight out of Bombay and Roja,” he adds.

As a result, they finally had to drop the idea of roping in Swamy. “Now, there’s no point chasing him since he doesn’t look the part any longer,” insists our source.

D-Day stars Irrfan, Huma Qureshi and Arjun Rampal. The film is likely to have two more female actors. “Irrfan will start initial work on the film after returning from the US (he is attending The Amazing Spider-Man premiere),” says the insider. The film is likely to go on floors by the end of the year.
