Actor Ashutosh Rana has a penchant for playing the bad guy in films, each portrayal different from the other. Sangharsh (1999), Dushman (1998), Raaz (2002), Ansh (2002)— all had him as the bad guy, but he isn’t bothered by the fact that he’s known majorly for his negative characters.
“You cannot compare a Lajjashankar Pandey in Sangharsh and Mr. Singh in Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, or films like Shabnam Mausi to Raaz. Frankly, I always look for a distinct trait in every character I am offered. I get opportunities in interval,” laughs Ashutosh.
“I am the most relaxed actor in Bollywood. Filmein aati hain to theek, nahi aati hain toh nahi, but Bollywood opportunities deta hai. People appreciate you only when you don’t keep repeating yourself. Filmi safar apni speed mein chal raha hai. I am not in a hurry, because I am not in any competition, I am just giving challenges to myself. Also, the very fact that we are talking about my roles which are 19-20 years old says a lot,” adds Ashutosh, further revealing that he’s also a part of Rohit Shetty’s Simmba and Son Chiriya, starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Bhumi Pednekar.

{{/usCountry}}“Simmba will see me in a very out-and-out different role. Then I move on to Milan Talkies with Tigmanshu Dhulia. In one of my other films, I play four different roles,” says Ashutosh, who plays Janhvi Kapoor’s father, who is against her and Ishaan Khatter’s relationship in Dhadak.
