Atul Kulkarni has expressed his dissatisfaction with the criteria used by the National Awards jury. The actor tweeted about how awards are not being handed out to those who deserve it most.

He wrote, “An award ‘matters equally’ to any person irrespective of his/her age, seniority or the earlier achievements of that person. I personally would like to get an award only if I ‘deserved’ it and not because it would ‘matter a great deal’ to me.” Kulkarni congratulated Amitabh Bachchan on his award for Paa, claiming that the actor truly deserved it.
