Ayushmann says with a laugh, “I don’t know what to say. I am not a materialistic person but after giving a hit in one of the best debuts in the last 10 years, I think Rs 1 crore is not too much. Acting is what I always wanted to do and the fact that I get paid for it is fantastic.”

Touted to be a buddy-comedy, the film will team Ayushmann up with Delhi Belly (2011) actor Kunal Roy Kapoor and will see Abhishek Bachchan in a cameo. “For the past few days, I have been attending workshops to prepare for my role. We start shooting from July 14 onwards,” says the excited actor.

Is his new film going to be along the lines of Sippy’s 2005 hit, Bluffmaster? “Not really. It’s true that Bluffmaster was also a buddy film, but ours is completely different and very unusual. It has a very distinct flavour that, we are sure, will connect with the young audience instantly,” Ayushmann says.

After completing Sippy’s comedy, Ayushmann will shoot for Shoojit Sircar’s Hamara Bajaj. “That will happen only early next year. Shoojit is busy with Jaffna (starring John Abraham), so we can’t start right now,” he says, adding that he will “be selective about TV as my focus will be on films from now on.”
