Badla vs Captain Marvel box office day 1: While Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu thriller did better than Pink, Brie Larson’s superhero outperformed them with a record ₹12.75 crore earning.

March is considered a silly season for films as it falls during the exam season. However, this week’s two releases – Captain Marvel and Badla – have proved that good content will always get takers notwithstanding other conditions. Badla and Captain Marvel box office collections on the day of release are 5.94 crore and 13 crore and are expected to climb up on the back of good word-of-mouth.

The Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu whodunit has got some of the goodwill from their last film, the critically acclaimed Pink, and has managed to outdo that film at the ticket windows. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#Badla goes from strength to strength on Day 1... Picked up speed late afternoon onwards at metros, with appreciable growth in evening... Strong word of mouth has come into play... Should witness substantial growth on Day 2 and 3... Fri 5.04 cr. India biz. Gross: 5.94 cr.”

Captain Marvel box office

Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first film fronted by a female superhero, Captain Marvel saw packed theatres on the day of its release. “#Hollywood scores yet again... #CaptainMarvel takes a Marvel-ous start at the BO... Packs a superb total [double digits] on Day 1... Overpowers *all* titles - new as well as holdover - by a margin... Fri 12.75 cr... Gross BOC: 15.18 cr... India biz,” wrote Adarsh. Released on only 1900 screens in India, the Brie Larson is heading to breaking records.

Internationally, Captain Marvel is a huge hit with a $62M Friday, including $20.7 million from Thursday’s previews. It is predicted to earn $160 million opening weekend and is expected to outrun Beauty and the Beast ($174.7M) and Batman v. Superman ($166M).
