Producers of the upcoming Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara have decided to borrow a promotional strategy or two from the movie itself. Ritesh Sidwani and Farhan Akhtar have their hearts set on a convertible Buick which they used in the movie, but haven’t been able to acquire it for the promotions yet.

A unit member explains that the ideas struck because the story revolves around a fun road trip in Spain that three friends undertake. He says, “Since Hrithik (Roshan), Abhay (Deol) and Farhan drove around in Spain for the film, they practically lived out of this Buick. And after shooting with the car over a couple of months, they grew attached to it. When someone suggested using the convertible for the promotional campaign, everyone unanimously agreed.” Since the original blue one from the movie is special to the actors, Sidhwani and Akhtar are working out the logistics to transport the car from Spain to India.

When called, Sidhwani confirmed their promotional plans, but declined to reveal more. “It’s too early to divulge our plan of action. But yes, we’re working on getting the Buick to India,” he says. Sidhwani has already proved his determination before, ensuring that the Spanish town, Bunyol in Valencia province, celebrated the annual Tomatina festival twice last year. The producers spent over Rs 1 crore to get haul tonnes of tomatoes from Portugal to Spain as the local crop was not ripe enough for them to shoot the Spanish equivalent of India’s festival of colours, Holi.
