Amrita Rao
Film: Singh Saheb the Great
The petite actor, who is known for her roles in Main Hoon Na, Vivah and Welcome to Sajjanpur, is busy preparing for the character of a scribe in filmmaker Anil Sharma’s next film, titled, Singh Saheb the Great. In the film, which also stars actor Sunny Deol, Amrita will be reportedly sporting a de-glam look and will be seen sporting kurtas and denims.

Nargis Fakhri
Film: Madras Café
She shot to fame as Heer in filmmaker Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar. And now, the 33-year-old, who was born to a Czech mother and a Pakistani father, is reportedly playing a journalist from UK. Also, according to sources, her role is modelled on the life of award-
winning journalist, author and documentary filmmaker Anita Pratap.

Kareena Kapoor
Film: Satyagraha
Actor Kareena Kapoor will be playing the role of a political journalist for filmmaker Prakash Jha’s next. Interestingly, Bebo’s character in the film is inspired by that of veteran CNN journalist Christiane Amanpour, who is famous for her reportage from war zones. Jha was quoted as saying, “I wrote Kareena’s character thinking only of Amanpour. I love the deep connectivity she establishes with the viewers.”

Other filmy scribes
In the recent past too, there have been lot of onscreen journalist characters that are still remembered. For example, who can forget Konkona Sharma Sen in Page 3, Rani Mukerji’s character in No One Killed Jessica, Preity Zinta’s role of a war correspondent in Lakshya or Emraan Hashmi’s role of a crime journalist in Rush.
