Storyline:

Based on Chetan Bhagat’s Three Mistakes Of My Life, the film is the story of three friends. They each fit a stereotype and live a hunky-dory ambitious life, until they all make certain life-altering decisions and things change forever.

Director:

Abhishek Kapoor (last directed Rock On!! in 2008)

His debut film was a success. It was critically acclaimed, but did not create a stir at the box office. More importantly, it gave director Farhan Akhtar an acting debut that he and the industry are still cashing in on.

Music:

Amit Trivedi

The biggest grouse that most critics have against this soundtrack is the fact that it has only three songs. The lyrics have been penned by the talented Swanand Kirkire, while Trivedi has sung all the songs himself.

Marketing/hype:

The director convinced the BCCI to share with them the footage of the iconic 2001 cricket match played between India and Australia at Eden Gardens for a scene. Sushant, who has a massive following on TV after his role in Pavitra Rishta, is doing his bit by flooding headlines.

Our assessment:

It has what many simply describe as a ‘Rang De Basanti’ feel to it, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The last Chetan Bhagat film adaptation — 3 Idiots — created history at the box office. This one might not have Aamir Khan, but it looks like it has potential atleast.
