His third outing as a director, Brave, has garnered a lot of praise, and is being touted as an animated Hunger Games, considering it’s Pixar’s first film that revolves around a female protagonist.

So, it’s no surprise that Mark Andrews is over the moon. “Brave means looking inside yourself and saying who you really are — the underlying message of the film,” he says over the phone from Los Angeles.

“Hopefully, Indian audiences will love the movie,” he adds. Mark also has to his credit films on which he has worked in various pre-production capacities, including The Incredibles (2004), Cars (2006), Ratatouille (2007), Spider-Man (2002) and this year’s John Carter. Brave took around six years to make but Andrews didn’t mind the wait. “What’s too long and what’s too short when you’re working on a movie? ” he asks.

The filmmaker is upbeat about visiting India. “I have never been to India. I’d love to visit and explore, I also have several Indian friends. I love the culture, the stories and the myths — the Ramayana, the Buddhist stories, Kali etc. There’s something super appealing about the old stories that you have. It’s fantastic!” he concludes.
