Media reports on Thursday claimed that Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) member Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi has objected to censor cuts in Anushka Sharma's film, NH10. The film, to be released on Friday, is a thriller about a young couple attacked by a gang while travelling on a highway.
In a letter to CBFC chief, Dwivedi is reported to have demanded that the board's list of banned cuss words should not be implemented without discussion with all the members. Dwivedi has also expressed in the letter that he is feeling "uncomfortable" being a CBFC members because "collective voice" is ignored in the way the board functions. He allegedly described certain cuts in NH10, Navdeep Singh's directorial venture, as a 'violation of trust'.
The matter has now reportedly been referred to minister of state for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Rathore. When approached, Chandraprakash Dwivedi refused to talk about CBFC.
In a related development, filmmaker Ashok Pandit, also a board member, took to the social media to express his concern over rift in the board.
Referring to NH 10, Pandit wrote in his post: "The cuts have been levied in spite of the filmmaker agreeing to an adult certificate." He blamed Nihalani for taking the decision despite objections from panel members.
