Reviews of Saif Ali Khan’s Cocktail have not all been positive. But despite the critics, the film made approximately Rs 38 crore net over the weekend (Friday to Sunday) and the first half of Monday. Having opened on Friday, July 13, it might continue its run at the box office, going by yesterday’s footfall in cinemas.

Kamal Gianchandani of PVR Cinemas says, “Word-of-mouth publicity seems to have worked. Even the Monday morning and afternoon shows had

considerable attendance.”

Sanjay Ghai, a Delhi-based distributor, seconds Kamal, saying, “The occupancy in cinemas was roughly 90 per cent across the multiplexes in the country. I can’t say the same for single screens in small towns, but those in metros seem to have done well.”

Ask co-producer Dinesh Vijan if Cocktail 2 is under consideration and he responds, “We will observe the week’s collection before even embarking on that thought. So far, so good.”
