Actors are known to go out of their way to promote their upcoming films. This time, it’s Paresh Rawal who is going the extra distance by turning shopkeeper for his upcoming film OMG: Oh My God.

Today, the actor will be seen selling idols of various gods at Deepak Artifacts, an old shop in Bhuleshwar, Central Mumbai. Of course, he will do this not as Paresh Rawal, but as Kanji Bhai, his character from the film.
A source says that the idea is to replicate the plot of the film, in which Rawal’s character sells holy artifacts. “The store will also be branded as Kanji Bhai Artifacts for the promotion,” he says.
Rawal confirms the news, saying, “Kanji Bhai’s store is an integral part of the movie, and this activity will bring out my character and the core message of the film.”
Incidentally, OMG is inspired by one of Rawal’s own plays, Krishan vs Kanhaiya. Our source adds that a few surprise elements will be revealed at this event, which comes on the heels of other innovative strategies from the team, such as creating a BlackBerry pin for God and putting up daan petis (donation boxes).
