Decided to save Arjun for another project: Bhushan Kumar

Says Bhushan Kumar, co-producer of Soni Razdan’s next directorial in which Rampal got replaced by Ali Fazal; also cites reasons for the sudden development.

According to recent reports, actor Ali Fazal replaced Arjun Rampal, in Soni Razdan’s next directorial that is being jointly produced by Mahesh Bhatt and Bhushan Kumar. Although this sudden replacement has raised several questions, Bhushan reveals that the decision was mutual, and in fact, Arjun will work in another film with them instead.

Throwing light on the issue, he says, “Arjun is a dedicated actor and is extremely conscious about production values and budgets of the films he commits to. In fact, we had a great experience working on Roy. However, for this period film, the Bhatts decided to bring down the overall budget, and we mutually decided to save Arjun for one of our later projects that we are planning.”

According to the original plan, Arjun was to play the lead, and was supposed to start shooting for the film this month, alongside Kalki Koechlin. But there’s no bad blood between the makers and Arjun. Bhushanadds, “For me, Arjun is a good friend, and we always look forward to working with him.”
