Vidya Balan has been going around town dressed like her character in Ghanchakkar to promote the film. Add to that, things like Emraan Hashmi shooting on a portion of an arterial road in Mumbai, and it’s hardly surprising that the film has been making news.
But now, director Raj Kumar Gupta has done something that might get a few Aamir Khan and Saif Ali Khan fans interested as well. They will be using part of the Dil Chahta Hai (DCH; 2001) title track in the film, in addition to a portion of the Kimi Katkar-starrer Tarzan’s (1985) title track also.
UTV Motion Pictures (producers) has bought the rights to the two songs to use them circumstantially in different parts of the film. “Gupta found them apt for some situations. The two songs together have cost them around Rs 20 lakh,” reveals a trade source.
Gupta, however, is not using the full songs. “He is using only 10 to 15 seconds of the DCH track and some parts of the Tarzan number,” the source adds.
When contacted, Gupta says, “Yes, it’s true that we have got the rights for the two songs. They will have situational placement that is somewhat ironic and comical. I hope people will like how we are using these songs.”

The film is being touted as a comedy of errors and is set to hit theatres on June 28.
