Raveena Tandon has played myriad roles. She played light-hearted roles in popular movies such as Mohra (1994) and Andaz Apna Apna (1994), and then went on to portray powerful roles in films such as Daman (2001) and Satta (2003).
As the actor turns a year older today (October 26), she talks about her Bollywood journey, her birthday plans, and more.
How do you plan to celebrate your birthday?
My family and I celebrate my birthday every year. However, this time, we won’t do anything elaborate. We will keep it low-key because Anil’s (Thadani; husband) father passed away recently.
Do you have a birthday ritual?

{{/usCountry}}Gifts are always welcome. I follow the ritual of expecting gifts (laughs). My kids have made some stuff [for me]. Let’s see what Anil surprises me with.
What are your fondest moments of your Bollywood journey?
It has been 26 years in the industry. The journey has been fabulous. Ups and downs are part of everyone’s lives. But, I have no regrets when it comes to the professional or the personal decisions that I have made in my life.
You have also refused many big projects in your career…
Even now, I am choosy about the films I sign. I have to like the movie and be comfortable with it. So, I have said no to many offers. Also, I have never been overambitious. I believe movies are only a part of my life; they are not my whole life. There is a life beyond films. God has been kind to give me success, and everything I ever wanted, in spite of not being overambitious. I have never stepped on someone’s toes. I have never clawed my way to the top or compromised in any way. I have lived life on my terms, and it has worked out well for me. I am quite content. You read interviews of senior actors who say, “I went studio after studio and life went by.” I have always wanted to live each moment, and enjoy all the other roles of being a mother, a daughter and a wife.
