Sonakshi Sinha recently tweeted about Varun Dhawan’s film: "...David uncle is bacccck with his new age govinda - varun!!" Herer's a look at other actors who have been compared to older stars.

They have a few things in common — they belong to Bollywood families, and have popular elder sisters.



But Alia Bhatt couldn’t have imagined that she’d be called the ‘new-age Kareena Kapoor’, with comparisons made between their expressions, body language and appearance.



She’s not the only one.

How it started: Varun’s father, film-maker David Dhawan, has worked in several films with Govinda. The comparisons started when Dhawan Sr. decided to direct his son.



Varun says: "Comparing me with Govinda sir is unfair… He’s a legend in his own league. It’s flattering, but, at the same, they are big shoes to fill."



Even if you try, you won’t be like her: Alia Bhatt

Compared to: Kareena Kapoor Khan (on-screen expressions, body language and appearance)



How it started: It began as Alia’s debut film, Student Of The Year, found success. Fans started making comparisons. Then, Karan Johar — who launched Alia and has worked with Kareena several times — spoke about the same issue when the actress was on his chat show.

How it started: The one adjective that got attached to Parineeti right from the beginning was ‘bubbly’. That’s how the comparisons with Rani Mukerji, Kajol and Preity Zinta started. The Chopra girl never hid her admiration for Rani. However, according to some reports, she wants to shed the tag of ‘the next Rani Mukerji’.

Parineeti says: "Both Rani (Mukerji) and Kajol are extremely spontaneous actors, and more instinctive than rehearsed. So, on that front, yes, I am similar," Parineeti told trade website, businessofcinema.com.

How it started: Ever since she made her Bollywood debut with Sudhir Mishra’s Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi (2003), she was called the next Smita Patil.
