Richa Chadha’s Fukrey Returns proved yet again that comedies work at the box office. The sequel to 2013 sleeper hit, Fukrey, earned Rs 5.10 crore on Monday.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the figures. “#FukreyReturns is having a DREAM RUN... Mon biz proves the film is all set for a long, healthy run at the BO... Expected to cross ₹ 50 cr in Week 1, as per current trends... Fri 8.10 cr, Sat 11.30 cr, Sun 12.80 cr, Mon 5.10 cr. Total: ₹ 37.30 cr. India biz.”
The collections further affirms the notion that Indian audience is going for comedy as the year comes to a close. After Judwaa 2 and Golmaal Returns, Fukrey 2 is one of the few films that has managed to register profit at the ticket windows. The films managed to set the cash registers ringing despite most reviewers panning them. Fukrey’s sequel also gained from the fact that it has been a lean phase with Padmavati being postponed after protests.
