Akshay Kumar's Gabbar is here, and going by the film's first teaser, the actor seems more than ready to take on the inevitable comparisons to Bollywood's most famous Gabbar: Amjad Khan in 1970's Sholay.

Though the teaser, released on Friday, doesn't show much except a poster that looks like an outline of Akshay's face, the dialogue in the background in his voice is a dead giveaway: "50-50 kos door jab koi rishwat leta hai to sab kehte hain mat le warna gabbar aa jaega."

Shruti Haasan plays the female lead in the film opposite Akshay, with Kareena Kapoor Khan making a guest appearance. Gabbar also has Prakash Raj, Sunil Grover and Suman Talwar playing important roles.

Akshay Kumar plays the head of an anti-corruption body in the movie that is directed by debutant Krish. Gabbar is an official remake of Tamil film Ramana, helmed by Murugadoss. It was also remade in Telugu as Tagore with Chiranjeevi in the lead, and then in Kannada as Vishnu Sena with Vishnuvardhan in the lead role.
