Award-winning Indian film Gattu has been selected to be screened at the 2nd Beijing International Film festival beginning from tomorrow.

Gattu, directed by Rajan Khosa and produced by the Children's Film Society of India, is the lone Indian movie in the retrospective section of the festival which will showcase about 260 movies.

The film features the obsession of a boy from small town to fly kites. It has already won the Special Mention Award at Berlin Film Festival and Indian Film Festival at Los Angeles.

China is closed to foreign films. Only few dozen foreignfilms are permitted for screening annually though some of the well acclaimed Indian films have been released here. Aamir Khan starrer Three Idiots, which was translated into Chinese, was a big hit all over the country.

The country is slowly opening up to India on the cultural front. Several of the popular Indian serials slowly made their way to television screens. Recently Zee TV has become the first Indian channel to get landing rights in China as a result of which it could be seen in star hotels all over the country.
