Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh starrer Gully Boy, to be helmed by Zoya Akhtar, went on floors in Mumbai on Sunday.

The movie, backed by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment, is about the lives of street rappers from Mumbai’s chawls and ghettos. Zoya and Ranveer attended a few sessions of two street rappers, Naezy and Divine, who were the subjects of a documentary Bombay 70, while researching for the film. Gully Boy is reportedly inspired by the characters of Naezy and Divine.
