I find the reports amusing: Shraddha Kapoor on her cold war with Alia Bhatt
Shraddha Kapoor talks about her supposed cold war with Alia Bhatt; adds that actors’ privacy should be respected.
Don’t mind, I’m eating my breakfast as I’m talking to you,” says Shraddha Kapoor during a telephonic chat with HT, while on the way to the airport. Surely, Shraddha is one of the busiest actors on the block today. After the release of her recent film, which also stars Farhan Akhtar, the Baaghi actor will be seen in three more movies next year. Though Shraddha has her plate full, she says she isn’t doing movies to catch up with her contemporaries.
“But, the fact is that I do need to take a break. I haven’t gone on a holiday since July 2015. I definitely want to take a break. There hasn’t been a single day when I haven’t discussed something related to work,” she adds.
Cold war
Owing to Shraddha’s happy pictures with Alia Bhatt at parties and media events, it is natural for one to assume that the two ladies share a warm equation with one another. Shraddha reiterates the same. “I admire Alia’s work. It’s always nice to meet and hang out with her,” says Shraddha.
But what about the reports that suggest that a cold war is brewing between them due to Shraddha’s professional equation with Alia’s rumoured boyfriend, Sidharth Malhotra? “I find it [these rumours] amusing. We laugh at these reports when they come out. All these things are bound to happen when people try to add some masala,” she responds.
Putting rumours to rest
Shraddha’s equation with her recently released film’s co-star, Farhan, has been in the news. Reports suggest that there’s ‘more than friendship’ brewing between the two. “I just feel that whoever is writing about these link-up rumours wants attention, and wants his or her article to be read. It’s not fair when journalists do interviews with actors for a film and later there is an article with a headline on their link-up. Actors work very hard for a film,” says Shraddha, adding that there should be some “class in journalism”.
“Actors should be respected. We are humans too who have parents at home and are answerable to them,” she says.
Great expectations
Shraddha’s song ‘Teri galiyaan’ (Ek Villain; 2014) got her much recognition for her singing talent.
From there on, the actor has lent her voice to hit tracks such as ‘Bezubaan phir se (reprise)’ (ABCD 2; 2015) and ‘Sab tera’ from the movie Baaghi, which released earlier this year. Shraddha reveals that, at times, she feels “pressurised” to say yes to singing offers.

“It comes down to living up to people’s expectations. I am always hoping that I don’t disappoint anyone,” she says.Besides singing, Shraddha has also been playing varied characters in films such as ABCD 2 or Haider’s (2014). I’m always looking to try out something different. I hope I live up to all my characters,” she says.
Up and coming
Aashiqui 2 (2013), which also featured Aditya Roy Kapur, was a turning point in Shraddha’s career.
Several reports have cropped up regarding the third instalment in the series. While some suggested that the film is set to feature Alia and Sidharth, others said that Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan and Sridevi’s daughter Jhanvi Kapoor will be making their much-awaited debuts with Aashiqui 3.
“Oh really? I didn’t know that,” says Shraddha, adding, “I think both of them are really good looking. If they are interested in acting in films, then they have the perfect guidance at home. If it’s true, I’d just tell them that they have the school of performing arts at home. They should make the best of it,” she says.
