Ever since actor Ronit Roy made his way to Bollywood, he’s been staying away from the small screen. With shows such as Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kasamh Se, Kasautii Zindagi Kay and Bandini, the actor was one of the most sought after names on small screen. However, he feels there’s nothing so appealing on television now that can lure him back.

Actor Ronit Roy played the lead villain in Hrithik Roshan starrer Kaabil.

“It’s more mechanism than sensitivity now. Essentially there are only those many stories for show-makers, so you don’t see anything new. Even though the Indian film industry is more than 100 years old and so many films have been made on same stories, there’s a certain way to tell it differently,” says Ronit who played the lead villain in recently released Kaabil.

So was there a conscious decision to shift from television to films? “Honestly, I feel I got stuck in a rut doing the same thing over and over again. And then, I just wanted to do something fresh. I have done different work when I was active on TV but now, nothing of that sort has come to me, which excites me to say that I would love to play this character because then you have to live with that character for a year or more,” adds the actor.
