Actor Arjun Kapoor doesn’t believe in defending his films that haven’t worked at the box office. So when we asked the 30-year-old about his last film Tevar, which got a lukewarm response, he admitted that he was disappointed with the reception. “Yes, I was deflated...it’s quite natural. It bothers you as an actor when your film does not do well. I worked hard on it for a year. But taking up the project was my choice and dealing with success and failure is something an actor must go through during the course of their career,” he says.
Arjun, who worked with his father, producer Boney Kapoor, for the first time in Tevar, says that the disappointment was more since it was a home production. “I was probably more attached to this film. So it took a little more time to recover,” he explains.

However, Arjun, who was in the Capital as the brand ambassador for World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), India, insists that he only took positive lessons from the failure. “Inherently, I am very proud of the film. I just think that the audience was switched off when it released and that’s why they did not respond too well to it,” he says, adding, “Mass entertainers are like this. They either just cut through and become a massive success, or it is a Tevar-like situation. And critics liked my work, so that was a learning experience.”

However, his takeaway from the film is much more than just the good critic reviews. “The film gave me a chance to build on my rapport with my relatives because it was a home production,” he says.
