Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt cast Bipasha Basu in his supernatural film Creature 3D as he felt that the actor needed to add some difference to her body of work. He felt that she needed to do something radically different. “Bipasha has done the circuit. It was important for her to reinvent herself. She played the glam doll, dancing diva and even been arm candy to heroes,” says Vikram.

The filmmaker also feels that there are many genres that Bollywood directors haven’t delved into, as they feel those won’t work. “There is too much cynicism here. There are a few things; we feel we can’t do things like the West. I feel that someone needs to take the plunge. You cannot go on a mission fearing failure,” he says.

He feels that the Indian audience is very open to experiencing new things. “The Indian audience loves new experiences. We are the kind of people who accept changes. I feel that someone has to give it to them (audience). New films do well all the time,” says the 45-year-old filmmaker, who has directed films such as Ghulam (1998), Kasoor (2001) and Raaz (2002).
