Kangana Ranaut met with an accident in US, but ‘miraculously escaped unhurt’

Ranaut and her team met with an accident in Atlanta, USA, but everyone “miraculously escaped unhurt”; the actor continues to shoot without any break.

Kangana Ranaut and a few members of her team met with an accident on October 12. The Queen (2014) actor, who has been shooting for film-maker Hansal Mehta’s movie, Simran, in the US for over a week now, however, “miraculously escaped unhurt”.

The incident took place when the group was returning from the shooting location, which was outside Georgia, to their hotel in Atlanta, the state’s capital. “A local driver was behind the wheel and was driving in the leftmost lane (meant for fast-moving traffic) on highway 381. Suddenly, he started coughing profusely and then blacked out while on the move,” says an insider.

Kangana Ranaut had a big hit last year with Tanu Weds Manu Returns.

“Everyone was scared at that point. But luckily, none of them got hurt. Kangana had a few minor scratches on her elbows and her forehead that bled a little, but nothing major happened. Similarly, Kangana’s team members also suffered a few minor injuries,” adds an insider.

Within minutes of the accident, the local police reached the spot. Kangana, for one, “made sure that everyone else was well looked-after”. “Later, the film’s makers ensured that Kangana and the others went to the hospital for checkups to ensure no one suffered from any internal injuries,” says the insider.

Kangana Ranaut’s last release, Katti Batti was a dud at the box office.

Kangana didn’t take any break. She resumed work the next day itself. “The entire unit is stationed there. So, she didn’t want to stall the shoot due to the accident, despite the fact that the makers were ready to take a break,” adds the source.

While the National Award- winning actor couldn’t be reached for a comment, producer Shailesh R Singh says, “It was a narrow escape. It’s a miracle that they had no injuries. Kangana is a brave girl. She refused to take a break and has resumed the shoot.”

Accidental injuries

Sushant SIngh Rajput injured himself several times during the training period for MS Dhoni biopic.
