In an industry where filmmakers try eye-catching strategies to promote their movies, Rohan Sippy seems to have taken another new approach to promote his next, Nautanki Saala. He has started an online show called Kutting with Kunaal, hosted by Kunaal Roy Kapur, which is a take off on many chat shows, Karan Johar’s Koffee With Karan being the inspiration.



Kunaal’s interview with Ayushmann Khurrana is already online. Rohan explains that this venture is unlike Karan’s show because, "our show is a take on all chat shows. Of course, Karan’s show is quite popular and it’s a good reference point. The K of Kutting came from Kunaal and Khurrana. Karan’s show is a big show but ours is a zero-budget version of it. Kunaal is playing the worst talk show host in the world."



What started as a promotional activity on the net for his Nautanki Saala, produced by Bhushan Kumar and Ramesh Sippy, has now turned into a different non-profit fun venture. "We were thinking of ideas to promote the film and came up with the absurd idea of a talk show. Later, it turned into a fun idea and has developed so well. But the funny part is that it doesn’t promote our film outright," says Rohan.

Rohan hopes the show takes off. "Talk shows are so formal. We wanted to break the rules and hope celebs too have fun, making fun of themselves. We plan to approach John (Abraham) and Bipasha (Basu) who can come on the show to promote their upcoming films. I hope we can upload an episode every week, but that depends on how popular it gets."
