Kiran Rao loves masala films

Filmmaker Kiran Rao,who directed critically acclaimed offbeat film, Dhobi Ghat, enjoys watching masala movies but says that beyond entertainment, she also looks for good content in such movies.

Filmmaker Kiran Rao,who directed critically acclaimed offbeat film, Dhobi Ghat, enjoys watching masala movies but says that beyond entertainment, she also looks for good content in such movies.

“I watch certain kinds of masala films. But beyond masala, I want some content. I don’t believe that commercial and mainstream cinema shouldn’t have any content at all,” Rao said at the press meet of Ship Of Theseus, recently.

“I go to watch the so-called mainstream films for different reasons. I certainly like those films if they are giving me something new to look out for,” she added. Currently, Rao is working on a new project, which she is still writing.
