Come January 8 and Imran Khan will sign another dotted line to register his marriage with long-term girlfriend, Avantika Malik, whom he got engaged to earlier this year. The groom-to-be admits that all the planning is being done by the Khans and the Maliks. "I’ve simply committed to seven-odd days," he smiles.
He’s all set to resume shooting for Yash Raj Films’ Mere Brother Ki Dulhan and Karan Johar’s Short Term Shaadi with Kareena Kapoor after the promotion and release of Break Ke Baad. "I don’t have the bandwidth for so many things," Imran shrugs, adding that they will have a reception after the couple registers their marriage at his house.
Isn’t his wife-to-be upset that he can spare only a week from his busy date diary for his real life shaadi (wedding) the actor says, "She understands the nature of this profession. She’s always been very supportive. There were never any issues about time."
He admits that Danish Aslam, the director of Break Ke Baad, who recently tied the knot with his actor-girlfriend Shruti Seth, and he have been planning their respective weddings together. "Danish and Shruti are also from different communities, like Avantika and me. That’s why we decided on a registered marriage rather than one with traditional rituals," Imran reasons, adding that it will be a simple affair.
Though he admits he’s more nervous about this Friday’s release, Break Ke Baad, Imran insists he will be fine by Monday once the audience’s verdict is out. “When I was on the way to the premiere of Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Naa (2008), I asked mamu (Aamir Khan) when this anxiety would end, after how many films, and he laughed and said, ‘Never,’” reminisces Imran, pointing out that if Aamir can be nervous after all these years, then he has a long way to go. “If I sit at home after a few interviews, I’d go insane so I keep myself involved with all the promotional activity.”

{{/usCountry}}He agrees that he’s learnt how to market his films from his perfectionist actor-filmmaker uncle. “After being involved in marketing and promotion of Jaane Tu… with mamu, nothing less is acceptable now,” he reiterates.
There’s a lot of talk about the ‘kiss’ and his sizzling chemistry with Break Ke Baad co-star Deepika Padukone. “More than passion, it’s about the comfort level Abhay and Aaliyah share after having been in a relationship for a long time. And let me tell you, that kiss was as difficult as a fight scene. When I have to punch someone, I’m told to be careful and not block out the light or cover the other person. The same instructions were given this time too,” he points out.
He admits that borrowing Abhay’s dressing style has made him more happy-go-lucky. He smiles, “The first thing I did after signing the film was buy some shorts and chappals and wear them around. And when you dress like this, your mindset changes. You become more chilled out.”
