Konkona Sen Sharma teaches Bengali to Ranvir

Actor Ranvir Shorey has found the perfect tutor to get his accent and pronunciations right for Rakesh Mehta’s next Life Ki Toh Lag Gayi — wife Konkona Sen Sharma. Earlier, Ranvir had done a small role in his mother-in-law and actor-director Aparna Sen’s critically-acclaimed Bengali film, Iti Mrinalini (2010).

Earlier, Ranvir had done a small role in his mother-in-law and actor-director Aparna Sen’s critically-acclaimed Bengali film, Iti Mrinalini (2010). He says, “I’ve done a cameo in a Bengali film, but there’s a difference in doing a full-fledged character.”

Though Punjabi by origin, the actor is more comfortable in Hindi or English. Funnily, the actor admits that no matter how hard he tries to speak in Bengali, it comes out with a Punjabi accent. “All of us speak in either English or Hindi or both, but everyone has got a different way of talking and pronouncing certain words, and that is peculiar to every individual. I am a Punjabi guy, so if I speak in Bengali, it sounds more of Punjabi-Bengali than authentic Bengali,” he laughs.

Life Ki Toh Lag Gayi is a comedy-drama that captures a day in the life of four different characters, who are struggling in Mumbai. While one struggles with vengeance, second one is on a mission, another character is filled with hope and the fourth one is out to con people— they eventually end up at one place and find their way.

The film is set to hit theatres on April 20. It also stars KK Menon, Pradhuman Singh, Manu Rishi and Neha Bhasin.
