The first time we ever heard of it in India was when Persis Khambatta went bald for her role as Lieutenant Ilia in the 1979 Star Trek, and boy did she look hot!

And now, it is Lara Dutta's turn. Although, Dutta hasn't been spotted bald yet, but we don't think she'll be able to dodge the ubiquitous media. The actress will be sporting the new look for the sequel to Don, reported bollywoodhungama.com. It sure will be interesting to look at Lara in this new light!
There have been cases of Indian actresses, albeit far and few, who have gone bald for their roles. Shabana Azmi went bald for Fire and even Nandita Das got her hair very closely cropped, (which she did look rather smart in). Even Lisa Ray shaved her head for Deepa Mehta's film Water while Antara Mali shed her hair to play a Sikkim monk in Amol Palekar's film And Once Again.
Well, all said and done, we salute Lara and these ladies for the 'bald' step they have taken and admire the new avatar they 'don'.
