After the blockbuster item song Munni Badnam Hui… in Dabangg (2010), actor Malaika Arora Khan will now do a jig in Sajid Khan’s upcoming laugh riot, Housefull 2. Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, the film will see Malaika in a glam, yet different avatar. The song will be choreographed by Farah Khan, who in the past has directed Malaika in successful songs like Chaiyyan Chayyian… from Dil Se (1998) and, of course, Munni Badnam Hui…
“Farah and Malaika are keen to pull off something fresh and grand for Housefull 2. Both of them know that expectations will be high. They want to outdo themselves with a peppy number,” says a source.
These days, Malaika is believed to be very picky about the songs she agrees to do, but she was instantly game to do the number for Housefull 2.
In the first film, Sri Lankan actor Jacqueline Fernandez had danced to the remixed version of the hit Laawaris (1981) song, Apni To Jaise Taise… Says Sajid, “For me, Malaika is the best choice for the item song. There is no one better than her for this concept. Since she and Farah have a superb track record of coming up with blockbuster songs whenever they’ve worked together, I’m doubly excited,” says Sajid.
For the past few months, reports have been rife that Rani Mukerji and Karisma Kapoor were also approached for the item number. But apparently, things did not work out with them. “Malaika is like family to me and I’m really privileged that she has agreed to do this song for us,” says Nadiadwala, adding, “Going by Farah and Malaika’s track record, I’m confident it’s going to be the biggest song of next year.”
