, best known for playing freedom fighter Bhagat Singh in Shaheed (1965) had planned to organise a screening of the cult film on Thursday, March 20, to mark 50 years since the film went on floors. But he was forced to cancel it after the producer of the film, Kewal Kashyap, refused to attend the show.

"He is in Jaipur. I called and messaged him, but we got an arrogant reply that he should have been informed much in advance and that now he can't attend. I can't sit alone and watch the film, and talk to the media about what I did in the film. I don't want to blow my own trumpet. It would have been better if he had attended the screening and spoken about the film. But since he chose not to, we decided to cancel it," says Kumar.

The veteran actor reveals that in the past too, Kashyap had complained that he (Kumar) takes away the credit of the film. Kumar says, "Whenever I have appeared for any media interview, I am always asked about Shaheed, and I mention the producer. But somehow, since no one knows him, his part never appears in the interview."
