Mardaani trailer: Rani Mukerji turns fierce
The first trailer of Rani Mukerji's Mardaani is out. It promises excitement and thrill. Rani plays a cop fighting against child trafficking in the movie. WATCH THE TRAILER
Just months after tying the knot with producer Aditya Chopra, Rani Mukerji is back, this time playing a cop in Mardaani, her home production. The first trailer of the movie was released on Tuesday evening.
Directed by Pradeep Sarkar, the film is produced by Yash Raj Films. Rani's character in Mardaani is apparently based on a real-life lady police officer from Mumbai crime branch, who solved several child trafficking cases in the city. However, the film is shrouded in secrecy as the production house made people associated with it sign non-disclosure agreements.

The trailer opens up with an insight into the dark world of child trafficking and shuffles between Mumbai and Delhi. It also has some blood-curdling dialogues. Sample this one from Shivani Shivaji (Rani Mukherji):
"
Inka make-up aisa mat kiya kar jaise bacchiyan hon. Un haramzaadon ko inmein apni mashooqa nazar aani chahiye, beti nahi
."
Rani carries the super-cop look and attitude quite deftly in the film: from running after criminals to chasing DTC buses to wiping blood off her face, she does it all effortlessly.
From the trailer, looks like a typical Bollywood flick, full of cliches. There is a villain saying he can't release a particular pyari because she has seen too much. Shivani Roy tells the villain that she doesn't know who he is or where is he speaking from but threatens to catch hold of him in a month.
The film releases on August 22.
