Mr Wrong may just be right!

Tired of the endless wait to find your perfect match?

In her latest film, Main Aur Mr Right, Shenaz Treasuryvala plays a girl who has everything — except love. “She’s got a successful career, a great group of friends and every hair in place, but she’s lonely and is looking for her perfect match,” says the actor talking about her character, Alya. Surely she’d have found someone. Chances are that Alya expects a little too much of her man. But does Shenaz agree with her character? “I personally don’t think there’s a Mr Right for anyone. In fact, many of them turn out to be as wrong as they are right. I have a hard time accepting this, but I know it’s true,” she muses.

Doesn’t she believe in waiting for the perfect man? “You can’t wait for him to come riding on his horse and sweep you off your feet,” retorts the actor. “There are going to be some Mr Wrongs who aren’t all that wrong, and maybe if you give them a chance, they may turn magically into your prince... after some couple therapy.”

On a more serious note, she adds, “Waiting has never been my thing. Besides, I don’t believe that there is a perfect match. We’re all flawed. Accept and ignore all the things you don’t like about him and be grateful for all the things you love about him. It’s never going to be perfect. But say that to my character in the film and she will disagree.”

So what tips would she give a real-life Alya? “I’d say the reason our parents’ relationships have lasted is because when something broke, they fixed it. We live in an age where when something’s broken, we throw it away, which is so sad. My mother still makes my sister drive her around town to find someone to fix her broken umbrella. Now how many of us fix umbrellas? Is there a man out there who does that? Speak up. Maybe you are the one for me!”

Shenaz’s (rather long) checklist for Mr Right “One thing I have learnt the hard way is that I shouldn’t have a criteria, but that doesn’t mean I am not still hoping to find someone who has at least four out of 10 things that are important to me,” says Shenaz.
