My journey has been tough: Saiyami Kher
Bollywood actor Saiyami Kher will make her film debut with Anil Kapoor’s son Harshavardhan Kapoor in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s upcoming film Mirzya.
“Acting was never part of the plan,” says Saiyami Kher, who will make her Bollywood debut with Mirzya. The film that has been directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra will also launch Anil Kapoor’s son Harshvardhan Kapoor.
Saiyami says her parents had tried to keep her away from the “big bad world” of Bollywood. But the actor found her way into the industry. In fact, she says she didn’t have a negative image of Bollywood in her head. “I was prepared. This industry affects you only if you let it,” she adds.

Currently, she is busy promoting her upcoming film. She says the sudden fame she is experiencing is “extremely overwhelming”. “Everything is happening in a hurry. Promotions are tougher than shooting for a film. Hopefully, with my second or third movie, I’ll get a better this,” she says.

The 24-year-old is the niece of renowned actor Tanvi Azmi. She reveals that when Tanvi got to know about her big break, she got emotional. “Tanvi mausi broke down when she found out that I had signed Mirzya. I’m very close to her,” says Saiyami. Ask her what career advice Shabana Azmi gave her, and she says, “She told me to be a director’s actor. She has been very encouraging.”
Even though she is related to an actor who has done several films, the newcomer says her journey has not been devoid of hurdles. “It has been tough. I used to stand in long queues to give auditions. Even in my modelling years, I had to face rejection many times. But such experiences help you grow,” says the actor.
