Even before Akshay Kumar’s production, OMG — Oh My God!, releases on September 28, actor and co-producer Paresh Rawal says the makers have already started thinking of a sequel. “Part two will feature Akshay (who plays God in the film) in a longer role. We’ll start work on the script once we’re through with the first movie,” says Paresh, who will co-produce the sequel too.

OMG revolves around the story of Kanjibhai (Paresh), who becomes an atheist after a tornado destroys his store. He starts fighting with priests and eventually forces God to confront him in court. It is loosely based on a Gujarati play, Kanji Virrudh Kanji, which has had over 450 shows. The theatrical has also been translated in Hindi as Krishan Vs Kanhaiya, which has had over 150 shows. A Marathi version of the play too has been staged. “I want to put the sequel on stage too,” says Paresh. Has he, personally, ever questioned God’s existence? “Many times,” he says. “Every day so many people kill and so many are being killed in the name of religion. Why doesn’t God come down and stop all this? For me the only religion is humanity.” OMG has been co-produced by Ashvini Yardi.
