He is yet to taste success in Bollywood but Chirag Paswan — son of politician Ram Vilas Paswan — has already set his sights on politics. As his debut flick, Miley Naa Miley Hum hits theatres today; the actor reveals that ultimately, he will follow in his father’s footsteps.
“Yes, eventually, I will get into politics,” says Chirag, adding that he isn’t sure if he can manage politics along with his acting career. “To me, politics means reaching out to people, understanding their problems and helping them in whatever way is possible. It’s very close to my heart. I have been doing it otherwise too, and if I can manage it simultaneously with acting, I will.”
But for the next 10-12 years, Chirag doesn’t want to focus on anything but acting. “I was born with the craze for films, but politics runs in my blood. I have always accompanied my father on his election campaigns. Right now, my priority is to work towards my years-long dream — acting,” he says, adding that more than him, his father is excited about his debut film.
But Chirag denies the buzz that his father facilitated his debut flick: “If he were to back me in terms of finances, I would have preferred a Yash Raj, Dharma, Rajshri or a big banner launch. The film has happened due to the kind of relationship my family and Anuj (Saxena, producer) share.”
At the same time, rumours mills have been rife that Kangna Ranaut was paid a bomb (Rs. 5 crore) to star opposite him. “I have no clue about it. It was entirely the production house’s call,” says Chirag. When asked how he felt about working with her, he replies briefly, “She is a thorough professional. It was a pleasure working with her.”
