Prateik calls for luck

time’. But when director Gautham Menon was looking to start filming the Hindi remake of his Tamil hit,

(2010), actor Prateik suggested they begin shooting on Gudi Padwa.

“Apart from being considered a very auspicious day, it is a Maharastrian festival. Prateik, being a Maharashtrian, suggested it was the best time to start their new venture,” recalls a crew member from the Hindi film, which is yet to be titled.

Gautam was initially planning to start shooting on Ugadi, which is a big day for South Indians. “But when he learnt that both the festivals fall on the same day, he was doubly thrilled about commencing his film on that day.”

Our source further reveals that Prateik also told Gautam that Gudi Padwa was one of the three most auspicious days for new beginnings. “Akshay Tritiya and Dassera are the other two auspicious days, when there is no need for any particular mahurat,” recalls the unit member.

Prateik not only garnered a lot of accolade for his debut in Abbas Tyrewala’s

Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na

(2008), but also for Kiran Rao’s

Dhobi Ghat

(2011). Amy, meanwhile, is a British model-actor who won the Best Actress Debut Award for the Tamil movie, Madrasapattinam opposite Arya.

Gautam, whose only other previous Hindi directorial was

Rehna Hai Terre Dil Mein

(2001), was always keen on casting Prateik for this project.
