Many Bollywood leading ladies have nursed the dream of being a Yash Chopra heroine.

And while this dream will remain unfulfilled for

Priyanka Chopra

, the actor was glad to be dressed up as an iconic Chopra heroine in her recently released film

Gunday

, which was produced by Aditya Chopra.

At a celebratory dinner, Priyanka and director Ali Abbas Zafar spoke at length about the film and their journey while making it.

A source close to the actor says, "At the dinner, Ali ended up discussing the fact that the movie was the last script Yashji (Chopra) had heard and how he was very happy that Priyanka was doing the film. Before passing away in October 2012, he had heard the script. In fact, he was quite excited to work with Priyanka as they had never worked together before. She was also looking forward to it."

"Her sari-clad avatar was an ode to Chopra’s films and is reminiscent of the typical Yash Chopra heroine. It received a good response from the viewers," says the source.

Ask Ali about this, and he says, "Priyanka was styled to look like the ideal Yash Chopra poster girl in the film. Her look in the

film

was a tribute to the memory of Yashji and everything he loved about his heroines."
