Till date, a number of singers have sung for Shah Rukh Khan. The latest to join this long line-up is Rabbi Shergill. The pop singer has sung a song titled ‘Challa’ for SRK in Yash Chopra’s next, Jab Tak Hai Jaan.

“It’s a Punjabi song and has been picturised on Shah Rukh. It has turned out well and the audience will never have heard SRK in such a unique voice,” says an insider.

Apparently, the decision to have Rabbi sing for SRK was taken by Chopra and the film’s music director AR Rahman. “Since it’s a Punjabi number with a Sufi touch, everyone agreed that Rabbi would do complete justice to it. And Yashji and Rahman are happy with the end result,” adds the insider. The song launches online on Monday at noon. While Gulzar penned the lyrics, Rahman — who is working for the first time with Yash Raj Films — has composed the music. And Chopra is all praise for them. “They are geniuses and magicians, according to me. There is a certain pattern to how music is made and they’ve changed this pattern. Gulzar’s poetry gave words to my vision,” he said at an event on Thursday.
