After moving into her new apartment, Deepika Padukone is now busy juggling dates for two big-ticket movies – thriller Race 2 and rom-com Yeh Jawani Hai Diwani. Both films require her dates around the same time. It’s known that she was looking forward to start shooting for the Race sequel opposite Saif Ali Khan because the genre is new to her. The actor recently signed Karan Johar’s production with former boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor and she’s upbeat about this project too.
Sources close to Deepika contend that she is in discussions with her managers and producers to ensure that she works on both projects. “Deepika is close to Ayan (director Ayan Mukherji) and Karan. So, she can’t pull out of their movie. She’s also fond of Abbas-Mustan and Saif, her co-star of three movies now. It’s a challenge for her to manage dates,” says our source.
Deepika’s chemistry with Saif has been talked about ever since they worked together in the latter’s first home production. They were recently seen together in Aarakshan and will soon be seen in Homi Adajania’s Cocktail, also produced by Saif.
Ayan will start filming in December and Race 2’s new dates fall in January, after being constantly re-aligned for the past six months to have the star cast together. Race 2 has an ensemble cast: Anil Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and John Abraham along with Sonakshi Sinha and Deepika.
Despite repeated attempts, Deepika remained unavailable for comments. However, our source insists, “Deepika hasn’t pulled out of Race 2 formally. She’s hopeful about managing her dates because not all actors are needed everyday on the sets of Race 2. She is trying to figure out a combination that works for everyone.”
